OfSTED have published new guidance for registering children’s homes.
This replaces, for children’s homes only, our previous gov.uk guidance that applied to all regulated children’s social care remits.
While we have not changed how we register children’s homes, this new guidance presents our registration policy and procedures in a new format based on user research.
At the link above you will find five separate documents, splitting our registration, and post-registration, guidance for children’s homes providers into five parts:
- Children’s homes registration policy
- Apply to register a children’s home
- Apply to be associated with a children’s home
- Responsibilities of providers and managers in Ofsted-registered children’s homes
- Registering a secure children’s home or school.
Our previous registration guidance remains in place to provide guidance for the other types of social care provider. However, in the coming weeks we will publish separate registration guidance for all the other types of providers following the same format that we have already used for children’s homes.
