Referrals
At Kennet Care we believe that getting childrens placements right the first time is key to successful outcomes for everyone. Having a clear matching process, excellent partnership working with all external agencies and most importantly including the child is of paramount importance.
The Home Manager in conjunction with the Responsible Individual has overall responsibility for any referrals to the homes. All referrals are carefully considered and discussed in detail with all professionals involved and the child themselves..
Our priority is always to consider the dynamics of the established group of young people already accommodated within the home in order to minimise any possible disruption. We aim to balance the group as much as possible, bearing in mind age, gender, previous experiences and needs. We will work with the Placing Authority to be clear about the purpose of the placement, including the assessment process and long term plans for the young person concerned, recognising that plans can change over time.
Planned admissions to Kennet Care are undoubtedly the most successful. Planned placements can provide the opportunity for the process to be tailored to the individual child and may include visits with family, visits to the home and an overnight stay prior to the placement commencing. When circumstances allow we will consider emergency referrals. In this event we would aim to minimise any possible disruption by preparing the established group, making sure we offer a warm welcome and having as much information as possible.
Please send any referrals to our dedicated referral email address: [email protected]
(please note due to the high volume of referrals received and the minimal vacancies we have there is an automated response which we will update when able to accommodate new children to our homes)
